There was once an old man
Very wise and of stately bearing
He had lived a long life
One filled with students, journals and meetings
A very busy life
And one of great challenges no doubt.
But tonight was a special night.
He was in his office and he knew this was it
The culmination of his career so bright
Of endless nights and frustrating experiments
Here it finally was
Something bcos of which he would be remembered
His time of glory unencumbered
Something that would empower his nation
Grant it global domination
And make it the policeman of the world.
It would soon be over. So he got out his
Ole bottle of Jack and poured it on the rocks
He downed the first one straight
And poured himself another long one.
As he sat down swirling the rocks
Along came his trusted cat Alex
"Alex, tomm. I shall be famous
I will be able to rest at last
Knowing that I have left my legacy
Bcos of which the world will remember me
And the government will honor me.
Finally. I will be counted among Achilles, janus, theseus, Edison, Einstein, "
The cat he goes
"Wow. Is tonight's discovery such a big one?"
"Yes it is. It will transform the world
And make my whole slavery meaningful.
Without this night I would be just another
Prof. Rubenstein
tinkering away in a lab in vain
And wasting government money.
I have lived my life to its logical end.
What about you Mr. Cat?"
"I have eight lives more you see
Since we are born with nine lives
And I am yet on my first one.
I will use this life to relax
To try and make the world a better place
And give lots of love to my human friends
And make them love all cats
You see I know not who will be my next master
Or will I be a stray
So I need to do small things
For my own future
As all my other cat friends are doing the same. "
And so night fell
And the next day came.
The wise man woke up and flossed his teeth
The cat woke up scratched himself
And it was business as usual
In the East and the West.
